As part of the 4th Albanian Diaspora Summit, the Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, participated in Panel 8, where an important discussion was held on the role of the diaspora in local and territorial development. During this panel, the Minister shared the discussion table with high-level representatives of central and local institutions from the region and the diaspora, including Elbert Krasniqi, Fatmir Limani, as well as local government leaders such as Emiriana Sako, Qemajl Aliu and Ardita Sinani. The discussion also included contributions from representatives of the diaspora and international institutions, among them Luiza Duraki, Vera Mjeku and Adelajda Roka. The discussion focused on the potential that the Albanian diaspora represents for the sustainable development of municipalities, emphasizing its role as a strategic partner in promoting investments, transferring knowledge and experience, and strengthening local economies and the tourism sector. In his remarks, the Minister highlighted that the Albanian diaspora is not only a connection to roots, but also an active development factor that can directly contribute to improving the quality of life in local communities and building a more sustainable future for the territory. Joint engagement between institutions and Albanians wherever they live remains essential for strengthening local development and advancing the country’s integration processes .
