The Minister of Interior, Mr. Ervin Demo, welcomed Ms. Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement, to a meeting. This initial meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss concrete steps regarding Albania’s path toward European Union membership.

The discussion focused on the closing benchmarks for Chapter 24 (“Justice, Freedom and Security”) and Chapter 22 (“Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments”), the associated institutional commitments, and the pace of reforms aimed at meeting the 2027 objective.

The Minister appreciated the readiness of Ms. Superti and her team to support Albania with expertise and assistance regarding the priority issues of these two chapters. He emphasized that, through commitment, concrete results, and close cooperation between the teams, work will continue toward fulfilling obligations and advancing Albania’s path to European Union membership.
