A roundtable held on June 30 in Tirana, with the participation of representatives from pilot municipalities, international experts and local organizations, discussed the development of a curriculum on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for local administration. The aim is to increase the digital knowledge and skills of local officials, in line with national strategies and the EU act on AI.

The roundtable highlighted the need for full digitalization of municipal sectors, especially archives and citizen services. The program will be tested in selected pilot municipalities (Vlora, Elbasan, Shkodër) before national expansion.Shkodër stood out for technological advances, while Elbasan and Vlora showed challenges in digital infrastructure.

Data security, lack of technical skills and ethical challenges remain key issues that require rapid solutions. Experts stressed that AI is a great opportunity for modernizing public services, but requires careful governance and high ethical standards.
