Civil society plays a key role in strengthening local democracy by guaranteeing inclusive, accountable and transparent good governance.

During the implementation of the “Move Albania” project (2015-2023), over 70 thousand citizens were engaged in over 370 initiatives, which improved democracy and the quality of services in the country’s 61 municipalities.

In the framework of the Cross-sectoral Decentralization Strategy 2023-2030, LëvizAlbania, in cooperation with the Minister of State for Local Government and the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government, organized the conference “Strengthening of Local Self-Government and the Role of Civil Society.”

The Director of the Foundation for Open Society in the Western Balkans, Mr. Andi Dobrushi, emphasized the importance of civil society’s contribution to the process of European integration and the implementation of European legislation at the local level.
