The largest 2025 budget draft ever allocated to local government was presented to the Assembly’s Legal Affairs Committee, with a value reaching over 1 billion euros.

As part of the commitment to providing quality and dignified services to every citizen, Budget 2025 aims to strengthen local government through a 17.1% increase in the unconditional transfer to municipalities. With a value of over 1 billion euros, this is the largest budget ever allocated to local government, representing 3.4% of GDP, a threefold increase compared to 2015. This historic measure supports the performance of municipalities in collecting revenues and aims to ensure that the increase in salaries of professionals at the local level does not negatively affect the investments expected by citizens. At the same time, the commitment to good local governance demonstrates attention to the autonomy and development of communities, improving services and investments in accordance with the highest standards. This progress is the result of the 2015 territorial reform, which has empowered local government with more revenues and capacities to meet citizens’ expectations.
