The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, participated today in an event held with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance and Economy, Mrs. Delina Ibrahimaj, together with the mayors of the 61 municipalities of the country, where the important national initiative “The Mountain Package” was presented.
This initiative aims to transform mountain areas into new centers of economic development, tourism, and agriculture, opening new paths for the sustainable growth of local communities and the strengthening of local governance.
In the first phase of implementation, the municipalities of Tropojë, Elbasan, Përmet, Skrapar, and Belsh have been selected as the first development models, where more than 10 million euros in investments are expected to be realized, creating hundreds of new jobs for residents of the respective areas.
In his remarks, Minister Demo emphasized that “The Mountain Package” represents a concrete step toward strengthening local governance, increasing the economic potential of the territory, and improving the quality of life in mountain areas, by placing cooperation between central and local government at the core.
This initiative stands as a testament to the commitment to building balanced development across the country, valuing the natural resources, traditions, and energy of our communities.
