The training on the drafting, implementation and evaluation of local gender equality action plans was organized within the framework of the project “European Union for Gender Equality in Albania II” by the Ministry of State for Local Government, the Local Self-Government Support Agency and UN Women.

At the beginning of the training, Ms. Olta Caca, Director of the Statistics and Performance Directorate, AMVV presented the Performance-Based Grant, while the participants had the opportunity to share their perceptions on gender equality and get acquainted with the essential concepts. Key definitions and the importance of gender equality at the local level were addressed, emphasizing the impact it has on the social and economic development of communities.

During the subsequent sessions, the European Charter for Gender Equality, an important guide for local self-government units in Albania, was discussed. Another important aspect of the training was the use of gender statistics and indicators for the evaluation of action plans. Participants were introduced to the importance of analyzing gender-disaggregated data and how these statistics help in the formulation of effective and evidence-based policies. Through practical examples, the interpretation of statistics and their application at the local level were discussed.

The training concluded with a summary of the main issues addressed, focusing on improving the capacities of local institutions to draft and implement effective plans for gender equality. Participants had the opportunity to share their impressions and fill in evaluation forms, offering suggestions for improving future initiatives in this area.
