The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, held a meeting with Ms. Giulia Re, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Albania; Ms. Sabine Piccard, representative of the Embassy of Switzerland; Ms. Elda Bagaviki; as well as representatives from the Council of Europe’s Department of Economic Crime, Ms. Zahra Ahmadova, Ms. Helena Fosset, and Ms. Arvena Deda. The meeting took place within the framework of the joint projects program on “Strengthening the Public Sector at the Local Level”. During the meeting, discussions focused on the role of prefectures, municipal police, territorial protection inspectorates, and the performance grant. The launch of the territorial reform process and the further empowerment of municipalities were also highlighted as key steps toward Albania’s European Union membership.
