The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, visited the Recycling Center in Berat to see firsthand a unique waste management model. Mr. Demo, together with the Minister of Environment, the representative of the Swedish Embassy, and leaders from AKEM, visited the Berat Waste Recycling Center to review the initial results of this innovative project. In just 9 months, 123 tons of recyclable waste have been processed, half of which have already been sold. With the support of Sweden and 100% management by the Municipality of Berat, this pilot project is becoming a success story for the country. The “door-to-door” model in the historic “Goricë” neighborhood demonstrates that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand. This is an important step towards a circular economy and a cleaner Albania, in line with European Union standards.
