The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, announced that for 2026, local government will be supported with a historic budget of 1.2 billion euros, which is the highest level of funding ever allocated to local self-government units.

This decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the role of municipalities and increasing their capacities in providing public services, improving local infrastructure and promoting economic development in communities.

Minister Demo emphasized that this budget is a new opportunity to increase local investments, to guarantee greater efficiency, transparency and concrete results for the benefit of citizens. Supporting local government remains one of the key priorities, aiming for a stronger, more modern local government and closer to the needs of communities.
