The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, participated in the presentation of the National Program “Rilindja 2.0”, a strategic initiative aimed at advancing urban development and strengthening cooperation between the central government and local self-government units. During the discussion panel, alongside the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Ms. Delina Ibrahimaj, the Mayor of Durrës and Chair of the Albanian Association of Municipalities, Ms. Emiriana Sako, as well as ministers, mayors and heads of key public institutions, a renewed vision for local development in support of Albania 2030 was presented. The “Rilindja 2.0” Program introduces a new approach to public investment by placing close cooperation between the government and municipalities at the core of efforts to address the structural challenges of cities, foster local economic development, strengthen tourism and improve citizens’ quality of life. At this new stage of development, the program focuses on addressing the evolving needs of communities through modern public transport, parking infrastructure, museums showcasing local identities, support for businesses and start-ups, affordable housing, environmental protection, improved irrigation systems, effective waste management and the delivery of public services in line with European standards. Built around 11 strategic pillars, “Rilindja 2.0” aims to establish a sustainable model for urban and local development by reinforcing interinstitutional cooperation and strengthening the role of municipalities in achieving Albania’s development objectives by 2030 .
