The Minister of State for Local Government, Mr.Arbjan Mazniku and the Agency for Support to Local Self-Government held a meeting on Albania’s preparations for Chapter 22, with the High Representative of the European Commission for Urban and Regional Policy, Mr. Gilles Kittel.

This chapter is related to regional development and cohesion funds. During this meeting, the institutional reforms undertaken so far were assessed, which, together with the increase in administrative capacities and the involvement of local government in decision-making processes, are guaranteeing a more effective, more transparent and closer governance to the citizens.

These efforts will enable the increase in investments at the local level and are bringing Albania increasingly closer to the standards and practices of the European Union.
